Fully agree with your sentiments with regard to voting for pro-EU candidates. Europe is going to be vital to Ireland's recovery and it is essential that we have MEPs who take their job and the role of an MEP seriously. McDonald and Higgins as Ryan's competitors do neither as they both are seeking to be voted into the Dail and merely using the European Parliament as a way of improving their profile??? And McDonald's attendance. Well, let's not even go there.

Let's keep it pro-EU on Friday! Vote Ryan no 1

The King is not dead - He is just hiding in the back benches of power amid allegations of corruption and 'brown envelope deals'.

He will be back as Lord Mayor of Dublin, President of Ireland or as a European Minister, though I don't believe Europeans are half as stupid as the Irish people and will see through the blarney and lies.

Bertie served Ireland well but the state served him EXTREMELY well and paid a very high price. We continue to do so because BIFFO hasn't the Liathroidi to ask him to leave.

People fell over themselves to shake hands with the disgraced leader because they knew he wasn't leaving and FF wasn't changing - he was just moving to a darker place and FF would live for one more term.

Bertie has not gone - He has just slid into the darkness of the back benches amid allegations of corruption and fraud, whilst maintaining full salary. The Irish Taoiseach's salary is one of the highest salaries paid to a world leader: even beyond that of the USA or the UK.

His legacy is changing in the same way that CJH's or Hitlers legacy changed over time.

Bertie served Ireland well but Ireland served Bertie extremely well and paid a very high price for his term in office.

He blew it all in the name of personal greed and its our children and their children who will fully 'appreciate' the legacy this man leaves......assuming he ever does leave.

Hi
Nearly a year on and how much has changed, Dublin is still wet and windy( most of the time) but the chill wind that blows is now coming from the economic down turn that has hit Ireland. Along with the change in Ireland's economic fortunes is a paralysis of leadership that has dug us deeper into the mess we are in. Let's hope that in a further 12 months time things are looking up, well here is hoping !!!

How can McCain say that he understands the need for newer Green Energy and energy conservation better than Obama. He already personally loses that fight. He has 13 cars and Obama has 1. Who is more environmentally friendly?

I didn't know this about him. Was just watching coverage of his funeral on the news. Very sad. He was a politician I always admired. He always came across as someone you could put your trust in. He will be missed.
