Have we entered the post-Bertie era

Listening to the fall out from the Mahon Tribunal this week & the testimony of his former secretary have we entered the post-Bertie era in Irish politics. Can the Taoiseach go on much beyond his address to the joint chambers of the US  Congress / Referendum. Any one out there with any opinions ?? Is Brian Cowen a racing cert for the top job ?

Wishing everyone a happy St Patricks day , from a politician free zone (well almost) most of the Irish Government are away spreading the St Patricks day cheer through out the world, yet the busses still run,  so maybe…..

Will Democrats decide their nominee by the last man / woman standing

Saw on Politico.com that Obama has severed all ties with the Rev. Wright. So Obama has lost 2 Power + Wright & Clinton has lost 1 Ferraro. If it keeps going like this with a resignation every couple of days due to something said on the campaign, then perhaps the nomination will be decided not by who has the most delagates in Denver but whoever has any staff left after the various political correct resignations. anyone think it might be a runner!!!

Can these candidates make any comments about the other with out it becoming a matter of gender or race. Are we we looking at the two most sensitive candidates on earth, are these two just too nice for this business. !!!! Is Obama the real deal or just too good to be true.

Now that the New York governor Eliot Spitzer has resigned, should he have gone when the story broke. I come from a country where politicians don’t resign ( if you have been following any of the news from the various tribunals you will know that Irish politicians don’t resign – its not in their make up). He clearly didn’t have many allies, knowing this should he have resigned at the earliest possible time. What of the new guy, any idea who he will back in the Democratic race ?
